Practice in General

Practice Manager – Caroline Self

Caroline is responsible for the administration of the Practice.

Should you have any suggestions or concerns about the Practice you should contact her.

When the Surgery is Closed (Out of Hours Service)

This is covered by Thamesdoc and operates from 6pm until 8am Monday – Friday and all day Saturdays and Sundays. If you ring the surgery during these times you will hear a voicemail message directing you to them via their telephone number 020 8390 9991.

Medical Students

From time to time we have medical students attached to the surgery. This attachment forms part of their training. You will be advised when students are present. Please let us know if you would prefer not to have them present during your consultation.

Specimens

If the doctor or nurse asks you to bring in a specimen to be sent to the hospital laboratory, please ensure that it arrives before 12 noon. The container should not leak and should be labeled with your name, date of birth and date of sample. Specimen containers are available at reception.

Results

Please allow 3 days for blood/urine results and 2 weeks for X-ray results to come from the hospital. Some results may take longer. You should ring the surgery after 3pm to obtain your results. This allows the doctors time to deal with their mail. We will contact you should any result need further investigation, however, we would ask you to ensure you follow up any tests by calling the surgery. The practice has a strict policy regarding confidentiality and data protection. We will only release test results to the person to whom they relate unless that person has given prior permission for the release of the results.

Intimate Examinations

Sometimes it is necessary for patients to undergo an intimate examination. If you require an intimate examination it is your right to request or decline the presence of a chaperone. If a chaperone is unavailable you will be given the opportunity to reschedule your appointment within a reasonable timeframe. The clinician has the right to request a chaperone is present. Patients are encouraged to ask for a chaperone, if required, at the time of booking appointments wherever possible.

Resuscitation

All staff and doctors undergo regular training in resuscitation. We have a defibrillator in our surgery. Fortunately we have never had to use it!
