Please ensure you attend for your antenatal care. It is a good chance to meet other mothers to be and make friends.
Midwife
Carolyn Foley is the midwife attached to the surgery from Kingston Hospital. She runs the initial "booking" appointments on Tuesdays and holds routine antenatal sessions on Thursday afternoons.
As soon as you know you are pregnant please make an appointment to see a doctor. At this appointment you will be given a choice of where to have your baby. Kingston Hospital is our closest unit and the one with which we have the best links. This should not prevent you choosing another local maternity unit for example:
- Epsom General Hospital, Epsom
- St Peters Hospital,Chertsey
- Royal Surrey County Hospital, Guildford
- St Georges Hospital, Tooting, London SW17
If you do not choose Kingston, your booking appointment will be at the hospital and it is likely more of your antenatal appointments will be at a Hospital clinic.
Usually your care will be shared between the GPs and the Hospital. This means you will referred to the hospital for tests and delivery but the routine appointments will alternate between GP and midwife at Giggs Hill Surgery. If there is a reason for your care to be more closely monitored e.g. Multiple pregnancy, diabetes, high blood pressure, then you are likely to have nearly all of your appointments at the hospital consultant antenatal clinic.
Carolyn and her team will monitor you throughout pregnancy and will attend to you and your baby for the first 10 days following birth.
