Modern General Practice is a mixture of health care, social care, prevention, counseling, risk management, commissioning and more plus a small business to manage. A lot goes on behind the scenes!
Miscellaneous
Non-NHS Work
The Doctors are happy to carry out insurance and other private medical examinations (e.g. LGV Licence) and complete private insurance forms, fitness to travel certificates, travel cancellations etc. These are charged at private rates which are available at reception. Passport countersignature - the doctors do not provide this service due to confidentiality reasons.
Problems with Transport
If you are elderly and without transport, there are local voluntary groups e.g. HopIn Neighbourhood Care (website), who help by providing car lifts. The receptionist can give you the telephone numbers should you require this type of assistance. The volunteers do not usually charge for this service but all donations will be gratefully received.
Access to Medical Records
Should you wish to see your medical records you should ask at reception. There is a charge of up to £50.00 to cover administration and copying of medical records. Although the Data Protection Act allows us 40 days to provide copies of our records, we endeavour to ensure this is done within 14 days.
