There are many Health Services that can help you when you are ill.
A+E is for emergencies only so please don't go to hospital unless it really is necessary.
Not sure what to do if you are ill?
An appointment at the surgery may not be necessary. Other local health services are:
Pharmacist
You can consult your local pharmacist on a range of problems, from colds, flu, infant teething and colic, to discussions regarding the medication prescribed and possible side effects. Some pharmacists can supply the Emergency Contraceptive pill. In some circumstances they are able to issue an emergency supply of repeat prescription drugs if you run out, allowing you time to request the prescription from the doctor.
NHS Direct
You can access NHS Direct by telephone on 0845 4647 or on the internet at www.nhsdirect.nhs.uk. They will offer advice and tell you where the nearest help is to be found.
